A drive into Hermiston, Oregon
For years, the dusty Eastern Oregon town of Hermiston was mostly known for its potato storage depots, lying in the heart of prime potato-growing country (think McDonald's french fries, here). Then, along came WalMart and a large distribution center for the Pacific Northwest. Here's what some of that new-found fame (and money) has brought as you cruise along the main route through town.
